Fire-Pits » free space that kids etc can use, but there's also a schedule and regular use at specific times.
Concept is that it's an actual fire, appeals to primal nature.
- adaptable seating, free to use
- other towns have them and park in Dufferin Grove has one
- people who bring wood get a loaf of bread bread
- another example is ski villages
- library also has flexible seating areas
- different kinds of conversations may become regular at certain times, people know when to show up for certain topics.

Open arts space participant runs has a lot of cultural diversity, has found art is a great way to make connections and dialog.
Turns into storytelling and sharing the ideas & experiences behind the art, e.g. coping and assisting with homelessness, curating those experiences.

Library at St. James Town held up repeatedly as excellent example of a space.
Gathering places exist within the library but the dialog does not occur as well as it could.
Neighbourhood has groups stacked on top of each other but they are not connecting as effectively as they could.

Helps identify people who speak the same language by where they stand, congregate and interact.

Engage community centres and schools to go beyond hosting a bulletin board to facilitate actual reporting -- to take the content off the boards, condense into a wiki, and distribute and report it for greater consumption.
